The centrepiece is a finely cast pewter representation of the L85A3, the latest and final in-service upgrade of the SA80 family. While the SA80 platform has long divided opinion and is now approaching the end of its service life, it remains an unmistakable symbol of modern British soldiering and has been carried by Royal Marines Commandos on operations worldwide.
Positioned at the top left is a Royal Marines Commando cap badge, also cast in pewter, providing clear and unambiguous service identity without unnecessary ornamentation.
The plaque’s compact size of 6” x 4” makes it suitable for desk display, shelving, or inclusion within a wider collection, offering a respectful and factual tribute to equipment and ethos rather than nostalgia or exaggeration.
