King's Crown Officers Household Cavalry Wire Embroided Beret Badge, hand embroidered on felt with wire, featuring the King's Crown.

The Household Cavalry is the most senior arm of the British Army, tracing its origins to 1660 when King Charles II formed mounted troops to serve as his personal guard after the Restoration. Today it consists of two regiments: the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), which were amalgamated into their current form in 1969. The Household Cavalry has a dual role, combining ceremonial duties, such as guarding the monarch and participating in state occasions, with active military service as the Household Cavalry Regiment, an armoured reconnaissance unit. Throughout its history, the Household Cavalry has served in major conflicts from the Napoleonic Wars to both World Wars and modern operations, while remaining a powerful symbol of continuity, tradition, and royal service.
