The rod is made from misch metal which is softer and different from your traditional Swedish fire starters as it does more than just create sparks, when you scrape along the side you get molten globs of burning metal that burn far longer than a traditional spark from Swedish fire steel. From a standing position you can scrape away and watch the molten globs bounce off the floor.
The BRIGID uses a 6 Sided Super Alloy Striker which is the highest grade striker available on the market, this striker is made from TOOL GRADE STEEL and has a distinct hardness, is resistant to abrasion and will hold its cutting edges. Hardness of the Blade is over 50 Roackwell C
Made to the optimum size to be able to be concealed in military survival kits and belts.
