Our Logo: The Cross of Santiago and Its Meaning to Us

In 2006, Contact Left was born in the modest setting of my mother's back room. Marie and I recognized the need for a logo that not only reflected our beliefs but also resonated with our diverse customer base, including Law Enforcement, Military personnel, Outdoor enthusiasts, and manufacturers. We sought an emblem that would transcend mere symbolism, embodying our shared values in faith, military service, and the broader spectrum of life.

In crafting our identity, we delved into the profound symbolism of the Cross of Santiago (Cross of St James). From its roots in the pilgrimage tradition associated with Saint James, this ancient symbol emerged as the perfect representation of our core values. The decision to adopt the Cross of Santiago as our logo was not arbitrary; it was a deliberate choice reflecting the foundations of Contact Left – faith and service.

The pilgrimage, epitomized by the Camino de Santiago, resonated deeply with us. It symbolized a transformative journey, echoing the challenges and triumphs we encounter in life, both personally and professionally. The Cross of Santiago, with its dual significance as a staff for guidance and a sword for protection, encapsulates the essence of our mission at Contact Left.

For us, the Cross of Santiago goes beyond being a mere logo; it is a testament to the principles that guide us – faith, service, and an unwavering commitment to our customers. As you explore our logo, we invite you to delve into the rich history and meaning it holds for us, encapsulating the spirit and ethos of Contact Left.

The Cross of Santiago, characterized by its distinctive design featuring a Latin cross and an additional transversal bar, carries profound symbolism extending beyond pilgrimage and military service, finding relevance in the tapestry of everyday life. In this broader context, the cross transforms into a metaphorical staff and sword, providing guidance and protection as individuals navigate the various landscapes of daily existence.

The vertical arm of the cross, akin to a pilgrim's staff, signifies the need for guidance and support in personal journeys. In life's ordinary pilgrimage, this staff becomes the emblem of personal values, a moral compass, and the relationships that offer stability and direction. It underscores the importance of relying on one's principles and seeking guidance from trusted sources when navigating the complexities of daily challenges.

Conversely, the horizontal bar, resembling a protective sword, embodies the concept of self-defense and resilience. Faced with life's uncertainties and adversities, the symbolic sword encourages individuals to summon courage, stand firm against challenges, and protect themselves and their loved ones. It serves as a reminder to cultivate inner strength and remain vigilant in safeguarding personal well-being and the well-being of others.

In essence, the Cross of Santiago embodies the significance of having the right kit that provides support in daily tasks, whether in service to others or leisure activities, while also offering protection against those who may seek to harm or divert us from the righteous path. It symbolizes our unwavering commitment to delivering the best service possible, ensuring that you are equipped with the tools necessary for both guidance and defense in your journey through life.
