10 Uses for a Shemagh

Here are 10 uses for your shemagh that you may not already know

1. As a cooling wrap

Soak your shemagh before tying it around your head or place it under your hat on a hot day.

2. As a warm wrap

Wear your shemagh under a hat or around your neck for extra warmth in cold weather.

Even if you don’t live in a very sandy or dusty region, your shemagh also makes great protection from; sawdust; grass clippings; or other flying particles. Simply tie your shemagh around your head so that it covers your mouth and nose.

4. As a backpack or shoulder sling

5. As a pillow

Wrap your shemagh around any soft items (e.g. clothes, leaves etc) to make an emergency pillow.

6. As a sling  

Fold your shemagh diagonally to create a sling that can be used for broken arms and collar bones.

7. As a trauma bandage

In an emergency situation your shemagh can be tied around a wound to help control the bleeding.

8. As water filter

Even though it will not protect you against microbes found in dirty water, it will filter out any large particles making it great to use as a first step.

9. As a towel

This is a very simple use, but your shemagh can be used to wipe away sweat, rain and water.
