Chamber flags are a necessity on just about all ranges now, unless you are firing you should have a chamber flag in, this includes transferring weapons from your vehicle and to different ranges.

Known by a number of names including Chamber Flag, Breech Flag or Empty Chamber Indicator

Air rifles may lack the explosive power of their powder-burning predecessor, but they're quite capable of inducing injury.  Chamber Safe Chamber Flags—also known as Open Bolt Indicator or Empty Chamber Indicator—aim to minimize accidental discharge by obstructing the firing chamber with a brightly colored orange flag and 25" chamber cord.

At a glance, all those in proximity will see from a distance the air rifles load status.

These flags should especially be used when teaching youth groups including scouts, guides, cadets and any youngsters.
