These coins are made from the original molds that made the coins that were sold and given away on the Special Air Services Camp in Hereford. There are not loads of these around however they were given to visiting dignitaries and those attached arms that served with the Squadron. Many members of the Squadron also bought them and gave them to friends and family.

 

 

This Coin is made from the highest quality Pewter

The coin comes in a black felt lined case and a clear top lid.

The coin has the regiments crest on it with "WHO DARES WINS" also around the edge of the coin on the front and has "22 SPECIAL AIR SERVICE REGT. "

 On the reverse of the coin has B Squadron's Bear Claw on it

 The legend of the bear dates back more than 60 years to when the unit was fighting in the jungles of Malaya. SAS Trooper Peter “Tommo” Thompson, came across a young black bear hiding in a suspicious hole he was investigating while on patrol in 1958. He adopted the cub and named it Chieftain after natives warned him its mother would kill it because of its contact with humans. His subsequent role in the unit was chronicled and found by two B Squadron veterans going through the SAS archives. In his honour, they decided to use a bear motif on memorabilia for the squadron

CL managed to get the original manufacturer of these to make them again so that collectors and those with an interest in the regiment can purchase one.
